After graduating from University Of Sydney in 1997 with MBBS Dr Stening commenced surgical training at Royal Prince Alfred gaining entry to the Orthopaedic training scheme Sydney Northside.

He then  completed Fellowships in hip and knee arthroplasty with Wei K Chung at Nepean Hospital then in the US at Shriners Hospital, Portland Oregan and Texas Sottish Rites Hospital, Dallas in Paediatric Orthopaedics.

Dr Stening has been in clinical practice since 1999 as Visiting Medical Officer at Hawkesbury Hospital Windsor and Sydney Childrens Randwick. He also has visiting rights at Lakeview Private Hospital, Hawkesbury Private Hospital and Prince of Wales Private Hospitals.

Dr Stening has a busy clinical practice specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty.

Dr Stening has developed a particular interest in anterior minimally invasive hip replacement  and patient specific knee replacement surgery. He is actively involved in Orthopaedic training scheme currently supervisor at both Sydney Childrens and Hawkesbury Hospitals of SET trainees.
